So ive been using this 3rd party OSX ZFS system called ZEVO for a few years now, been pretty good to me.
Tonight I upgraded to 10.9 Mavericks. With 10.9 all kext’s must be signed. Which is pretty good for security, but kind of a pain for guys like me.
Im not doing any crazy with ZFS, just a single drive, just messing around with it. But I do have a bit of ‘media’ on it ;)
As of this post, there are not official signed .kext drivers, but there is a set that is signed.
And its the https://code.google.com/p/maczfs/ drivers. http://lundman.net/ftp/osx.zfs/
Never had to manually mount the drive before, but it was a very nice learning experience.
mkdir zfs < dmg file> sudo ./bin/zpool import ZFS sudo ./bin/zpool status sudo ./bin/zfs set mountpoint=/Users/mrecho/zfs/ ZFS sudo ./bin/zfs mount ZFS
I think im done with ZFS for now, I have a Drobo. And my next setup will have all external drives.
